Why is my processor fan so loud?
My CPU stock fan started getting loud so I went and bought a replacement, this fan is still loud. what could the problem be? It is not unbearable loud, but i can still hear it very well.
Additional Details
I am not running games, just turn it on and it is a little loud. The thermal paste is on right, it is a brand new heatsink/fan so it isn't dirty. My video card is new too and is not dirty. I clean the PC regularly so it wouldn't be dust build up. Usually when I play games I expect to be able to hear it.
1 day ago|||Could be the other fan. There are two fans inside a pc. Forgot the name of it, but have that one checked out as well.|||Gets to hot...|||As the fan screws ontop of the heat sink make sure it is on there even ,spin the fan with your finger to check that its running free|||Most fans are pretty loud. its fine that it's loud because as long as its doing the job of keeping your processor cool.|||Do you over clock your comp ? Is your computer in a reasonable space to breathe ? As soon as your computer gains heat your fans will spin to cool it down BUT the more hotter it gets, the more the fans will spin, so your computer must be really hot. What about the power supply ? is it the right power going in to your computer ? perhaps this might cause it to heat much quicker

Bfg 8600 gts o.c. quit working what should i do to test it before sending in for warranty replacement?
My wife played Sims 3 all day when she saved and quit at 9pm yesterday the video card quit sending information to the monitor. I rebooted the computer manually with no sucess. I then turned off the power to the computer and left it alone for five minutes came back and rebooted to no sucess. I did note that the cards fan was running. I shut down the computer again removed the card and hooked up the onboard video with the old vga cable. The monitor worked fine. What at home tests should I do now before sending the card in for a replacement?|||Try put back that card and start your pc. If not working again, try use the card to another pc like your friend or mates. If still not working , just RMA the card to the manufacturer.|||reinstall the drivers and update the bios. It could also be the BIOS setting for your vga card. See if you can enable anything with express vga mode.
What fan does a NVIDIA geforce 9500 gs use?
my girlfriend's computer has been making a rattling noise for about half a year, and we're kinda getting tired of it. so we opened up the case and looked around for the issue and saw that it was the fan on her video card vibrating. it's off it's kilter, unstable.. etc. pretty much, we need to get a new fan for it. but neither of us know anything about buying tiny fans for video cards... can anyone point us in the direction of what fan to buy as a replacement? we've looked around, but can't place our fingers on ONE fan, that WILL work. lots of them look good, but we don't know which one to pick, if the screw holes will match up and so on. so, any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. thanks!|||Its Hard To Just Get The Fan Because Very Few People Change The Fan Them-self However You Could Replace the Heat-sink Would Be Simpler But If Your Are Not Sure What You Are Doing Inside It, It Is Best To Send It Off To Be Repaired By NVIDIA Would Be Best As They Have All The Parts At Hand Also It Wont Void Your Warranty If You Have One
Video card overheating -- what can I do to stop this?
So I bought a BFG GeForce 8400 GS at Best Buy, after about 2 months of non-stop artifacts, bright as hell colors during gaming, graphical lock and PC crashes, I finally requested an RMA with BFG. After 2 weeks, I got my replacement card today. It's doing the same thing. I went to Staples about a week ago and I bought this fan that attaches to that metal expansion bay where you put PCI stuff. It screws in there, it's a huge fan that sits right infront of the fan of the video card to allow additional cooling. Apparently it's not working.
So, these bright colors and glitchy bright blocks around the texture of things in the game is from overheating, right? Well, what can I do to stop this? Can I buy a better fan for this card? Do I need a new card all together? Thanks.|||This could also be a problem with the PCI express port on the motherboard I wouldn't count that out. How long do you play until it artifacts? Its unlikely that its the card because its your second one. Stock computers have horrid cooling so its probably an overheating issue.|||It sounds like the card is either overclocked beyond it's capabilities or it has a design flaw. I would download "NTune" from NVIDIA's website and check to see if it is overclocked by going into the GPU settings.
If it isn't, request a cashe refund from BFG.
And another thing, why are you getting a 8400? That is outdated by today's standards.
Also check your power supply and make sure it has enough wattage and ampere rating. Power supply issues are the number one cause of hardware problems on a PC.|||Yeah I was going to tell you about the PCI Fan, that's what I use. If you're still having problems it could probably be an inadequate Power Supply. How many watts is your power supply and what are the full specifications of your computer?

512MB GDDR3 Video Card Upgrade; want 1GB GDDR5 Video Card!?
I have an ATi Radeon 4850 HD, this video card is obsolete in my opinion and I do not want to use it. This card has 512MB of GDDR3, and is 256-Bit. I'm using third-party software to turn the fan on and underclock it since the regular windows drivers doesn't do anything of that automatically. (Using RivaTuner & Real Temp) I am looking for an equivalent nVidia card in comparison to mine as a replacement, but I'm wondering if my PCIe 2.0 x16 slot can support a 1GB or 2GB GDDR5 nVidia Card. I bought this computer in 2009 and it is still under warranty, Best Buy is giving me a hassle on replacing mine with an equivalent Nvidia in the mean time so I guess I have to cough up $$$...
I have a Delta Power Supply 360/350watts, My Delta Power Supply is only 350watts, but is powering my ATi Video Card which needs 6-pin adapter from power supply, and it's PCI Express 2.0. My Radeon requires 450 Watts from the Power Supply, and runs fine. It's the stock video card that came with the computer. There's only one thing I'm skeptical about, if I can get a GDDR5 card, they were released in Late-Mid 2009, I think. I've been researching this upgrade for over a week and need a serious good recommendation on what to do. And please don't tell me to make a new build; I'm doing that after I finish upgrading this one this one for my fiancee.
So here the grand question... *drum roll please*
Are PCIe 2.0 x16 GDDR3/4 Memory Interface Slot Architectures on x58 motherboards compatible with 1-2GB Nvidia GDDR5 video cards, with suffice amount of watts being given to it by the PSU.
I have a Dell Studio XPS 435MT
Intel Core i7 @ 2.66GHZ
Locked Intel X58 motherboard with 1 PCIe 2.0 x16 slot for the video card.
4GB of DDR3 ram (Stock)
I'm happy with this PC but I'm a gamer and like using proper software to control my video cards, not third-party applications.|||The short answer is:
As long as the slot is PCIE 16x, you can use any damn PCIE based card you like.
It does not matter whether it's GDDR3 or GDDR5.
The only limits are your power supply wattage, the size of your case and your wallet.
If you want a decent video card, be prepared to spend upwards of $160 to $200.
If you want to know how powerful your power supply needs to be, you read the reviews. A very simple google search will tell you.

Replacement Fan for Geforce 7600GT (PCI-E)?
I've got that video card (yeah, I know, it's a few years old) and the fan sounds like it's dying. I'd like to replace it but I can't seem to find a suitable replacement fan. I've searched all around but cannot find a fan that is specifically for this card. Can anyone point me to where I can buy a replacement for this specific card? Thanks.|||Finding a replacement cooler may be a bit difficult. If you do it via manufacturer, you'll prolly have to spend a bit of money to get it anyway. The best option, if you are intent on repairing your card, is to get an after market cooler. I poked around on a trusted site (newegg.com) and found a $15 copper cooler that should outgun the stock cooler and fit your card:

One thing, if you get the point where you're spending more than $25 on cooling, just upgrade to a new 8600 GT for $50 with MIR:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…
It will perform better in newer games as it is better optimized for them. Raw power is about the same...|||Go to the shop that you bought the card.

Need some help with my 8600 gt video card?
Ive had my xfx 8600 gt card for about a year and a half.I think the bearings in the fan are going out cuz its making a very annoying buzzing sound.I have tryed cleaning it but the problem still presits.Anyone know where I can get a replacement fan for it?I have searched newegg.com and tigerdirect but I want to make sure I get the right fan.|||You caneven go to your local radio shackand pick up a 40mm fan for about 5 bucks. You can try to replace your old one or just hot glue the new fan over the old one. (that actually works very well and is easier too)|||Video cards typically use a 40mm fan. Any 40mm fan can be used to replace yours. I'm sure Newegg has several. Also, the fan can easily be replaced. See a pic of the fan removed here:
