Do I have to replace my Radeon 6770 Video Card because of the broken fan?

My friend's idiot brother stuck his finger into the card's fan when I was talking. I didn't notice him do that and there was something already wrong with it so I took it to Geek Squad. The motherboard, processor, AND video card were recommended for replacement. Can I save this thing? I'd love not to spend another $140 on a new video card. Please help me!|||LOL Geeksquad,

Try this 1st buy an aftermarket fan for the 6770 and install it.

I'm also going to state the there's a 95% chance the CPU is fine also.

If there is actually a main board issue you have two options.

1: Buy and install your own replacement board or replacement capacitors guaranteed to cost less than they charge.

2: Let Geek Squad overcharge you and mangle it like a gorilla on crank and charge you for a CPU and video card that may or may not be actually replaced and yet charged for.

What you can do if you go the geek squad route. Write down the individual serial # of the CPU and Video card and Main board. Make sure your simply not writing down a model number but a unique number of that component or mark them with permanent marker.

If you get your original parts back but get charged for new ones raise a huge stink they charge enough for new parts they ought as well install them.|||Geek Squad is ripping you off, just like they do with most people who bring computers to them. NEVER EVER TAKE A COMPUTER TO THEM! They're lying, incompetent idiots.

Take it back and check sites like Newegg. They have a bunch of third party coolers for video cards. You should be able to find one that fits your card for less than $50.|||Was the computer still running and working before you took it in? If so, the fan on the video card is easily replaced.|||Chances are the card is fine and as said its easy to fit a new one, what were the other symptoms then????

will take forever to get because its in china

Just ordered it for myself. Really easy to remove. 4 screws on the top cover and 3 screws holding on the fan to the heat sink.
